Red Bean Trendy with hints of a “New York” loft style, is a superb place for dining against a backdrop of Hanoi’s Old Quarter rooftops. Designed with angular and straight lines, black matt tiles line the floor, walls sport a mock grey concrete effect interspersed with biscuit-colored wooden panels and shelving. A grid-like ceiling design with rectangular wooden slats and ‘cage’ type pendant lights add to the industrial feel while pale grey marble-effect tabletops and black padded chairs give a modern clean look.
A special feature of this Red Bean restaurant is the daily buffet lunch capturing the essence and variety of over 60 much loved and lesser-known street food dishes. The freshly devised dishes feature northern savory favorites, spicier central fare and the south’s sweeter tooth reflecting and symbolizing Vietnam’s 58 provinces and 5 centrally controlled municipalities. Each comes with a story behind its origins, the combined result being an intriguing menu painting a picture of Vietnam’s history and society through food.
